ACTRA PERFORMERS RATIFY NEW

INDEPENDENT PRODUCTION AGREEMENT

98.7% Vote Yes

TORONTO – Canadian performers, by a record return vote of 98.7%, have ratified the new Independent Production Agreement (IPA) negotiated with the Canadian Film and Television Production Association (CFTPA) and the Association des producteurs de films et de télévision du Québec (APFTQ). The vote follows ACTRA’s first-ever strike.

“This is an undeniably strong vote of confidence from our membership,” said Richard Hardacre, President of ACTRA. “Winning our strike could never have been achieved without the strength and solidarity of the ACTRA membership.”

The IPA covers the terms and conditions of work for professional performers in all independent film and television production in Canada, except for which has a separate agreement.

ACTRA has made significant economic gains in the areas that are priorities for performers: a 10% increase over the next three years including a 1% increase into retirement contributions, and a comprehensive new agreement for productions made for and converted to new media.
