NEW RATES FOR IPA PERMITS

July 10th, 2007 | Comments Off | Posted in ACTRA Maritimes News

New Independent Production Agreement (IPA) permit fee rates are in effect for work performed on or after July 18, 2007.

This is the first increase in IPA permit fees in 12 years. Commercial permit fees changed in 2003.

IPA permit fees are charged to performers who do not pay working dues when working in ACTRA’s jurisdiction. Such performers include ACTRA Apprentices, ACTRA Additional Background Performers, and Non-Members. When an Apprentice Member attains Full Membership, s/he begins to pay working dues, so the permit fees no longer apply.

The IPA is negotiated on behalf of all performers who work on an ACTRA set, whether they are dues paying members or not.

Permit fees and Full members’ dues provide the financing necessary to support ACTRA’s work and programs, including negotiating and enforcing agreements, organizing, research, political and public policy outreach, campaigns for Canadian programming and member services.

AS OF JULY 18, 2007, THE FOLLOWING IPA PERMIT RATES WILL BE IN EFFECT

NEW RATES:

Principal Actor:
First week: $260
Second week: $130

Actor:
First week: $210
Second week: $90

Dubbing: $90/week

Off-Camera Narrator: $175

July 3rd, 2007 | Comments Off | Posted in ACTRA Maritimes News

actra.jpg TORONTO – ACTRA Performers have ratified by a vote of 99%, a one-year extension of their National Commercial Agreement. This agreement is negotiated between ACTRA and the Institute of Communications and Advertising (ICA), and the Association of Canadian Advertisers (ACA).

The NCA covers the terms and conditions of work of professional performers in all television, radio, and new media commercials in Canada. The terms of the proposed extension include: a 3% general increase to all rates and an additional one point increase to Insurance contributions.

“We’re happy that our membership is behind this extension, it’s a strong signal of our members’ support for the negotiating committee and the solidarity within our union,” said Richard Hardacre, National President.

The new rates, terms and conditions came into effect July 1st, 2007.
