Nominations sought for National Councillor

October 17th, 2007 | Comments Off | Posted in ACTRA Maritimes News

ballot_box.jpgBranch Council is seeking nominations for the position of National Councillor.

The National Councillor represents ACTRA Maritimes on the National Council – the body which sets policy for ACTRA nationally.   The term of National Councillor is two years.  The position involves meetings at the National headquarters in Toronto at least twice a year, as well as occasional conference call meetings.  The National Council is responsible for keeping up-to-date on activities and events which occur at National, will be required to participate in committee work and is responsible for reporting to Branch Council and the Maritimes membership.   The National Councillor, once elected, automatically becomes a member of ACTRA Maritimes Branch Council and is therefore required to attend the monthly Council meetings and participate in committee work.

Our current National Councillor is Jamie Bradley.  Jamie has served as such for ten years, during which time he has been National Treasurer and (currently) the National Vice-president.

The Branch Council election procedure follows. To nominate a candidate, the nominator must be a full member in good standing.  The candidate for National Councillor must also be a full member in good standing.  The nomination form must be signed by both the nominator and the nominee. More »
