Maritimes Actors Win AFF Awards

Nova Scotians Ellen Page and Jim Fowler were awarded the top acting awards at the 25th Atlantic Film Festival..



At the Film Fest Awards Brunch, Ellen received the award for Outstanding Performance - Female for her work in Daniel MacIvor's feature film Wilby Wonderful. The feature, which was shot in Shelburne, NS, saw the sixteen-year actress holding her own with such Canadian power houses as Rebecca Jenkins and Callum Keith Rennie. Ellen is a recipient of the first ACTRA Awards presented by ACTRA Maritimes, having received an Outstanding Performance Award for her work in the MacIvor penned Marion Bridge.

Jim Fowler received the Festival's Award for Outstanding Performance - Male for his startling work in Glen Walton's beautifully shot short film, Chamberpiece. Jim delivered a powerful, poetic performance in this highly stylized examination of love and sex - proving that he is a mature performer at the top of his game.
